As fall comes don’t you love the changing fall colors? I love that fall brings change; change in the weather, change with the school year, change in our clothing styles from warm weather to cool, change in sport seasons, changes with the holidays coming and changes in our attitudes. But mostly, I love the change of colors.
Fall is the final show of beautiful lazy summer days before being wrapped into a cocoon like white blanket for winter. I love drives up the canyon to see the leaves changing. The pockets of yellow orange aspens tucked together between groves of evergreen pines are breathtaking. And then add in the burnt red mountains and the blue gray skies and life is good. The fall color changes remind me how beautiful the world is and how good God is. I think God changes the colors so we will stop, notice, take time to enjoy and give thanks for all we have. I know my life is busy and my days are full. Work and kids and sports and church can overwhelm me and fill up my time. Though it’s all good stuff to fill up my time with, I need to remind myself to stop and just be. I need to remember that not only did God create our beautiful earth and all of the wonderful majestic views but he created me and my family. He wants me to be happy and to enjoy my life with them. He wants the same for you.
So stop and remember to take a moment, relax with a blanket and book, breathe in the crisp air, watch the hot air balloons soar, memorize the changing fall colors, bake some cookies, smell the pumpkin and cinnamon and simply enjoy being alive. Because, as I said, life is good.
