Chon's Chicken in the easiest and best chicken marinade you will ever make. simplyseekingjoy.com

Have you ever heard of Chon’s Chicken? You won’t find it in any cookbook, I’m afraid. And it probably won’t even come up under any google search you do. But never fear because I’m going to introduce you to it today. Trust me, you will thank me!

How Chon’s Chicken Came To Be

Lots and lots of years ago, my in-laws were raising a family near Baltimore, Maryland. They had good family friends, the Chon’s, who shared the easiest and most delicious chicken recipe ever. It is known as Chon’s Chicken in our family. It may have some other official name, but I like to think that we are honoring them by keeping their name attached to it. We have been making this chicken marinade for more years than I can count and it is still a family favorite. It makes an appearance at family functions every few months or so.

With only five ingredients, this recipe can be thrown together in no time and is virtually foolproof- anyone can make Chon’s Chicken!

Ingredients
  1. 1 cup soy sauce
  2. 1 cup white sugar
  3. 1 cup water
  4. 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  5. 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  6. 8 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
Instructions
  1. Combine the first five ingredients.
  2. Add the chicken.
  3. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours; overnight is best.
  4. Grill the chicken until cooked through.
Notes
  1. We love chicken thighs because they are so tender, but any chicken will do!
  2. Because of the sugar, a lower heat works best so you don't blacken the outside of the chicken.

I love grilling season! I love that the mess and the heat of cooking both stay outside. That’s super important in the heat of the summer around this place.  Please tell me you will try this recipe! I know you will fall in love with it because it really is THAT good.  Why else would I be sharing it with all of you? 🙂
