A couple weeks ago I was having writer’s block for a blog post I was working on and my sweet 10 year old daughter came to me and told me she had written a Halloween post for me. She told me that she had written it from my perspective and how she thought I wrote. She even took a few pictures to go along with it. What a sweetheart. So, I’ve decided that her hard work deserves to be seen. I’m going to post her blog just as she wrote it. And I’m going to post her pictures in all their unedited glory.
Her Turn
Halloween Decorations
So, you know my hatred of the Halloween season. I have shelves in the front of my house and they are driving me crazy! I can’t just leave them empty, but I hate decorating them. I already have some Halloween decorations and we pulled them out, but there weren’t enough. Being me, I put it off for about a day and then after work, I went to my local T. J Maxx homegoods store. They have plenty of modern Halloween decorations. Click HERE to shop.
I can always rely on T. J Maxx to find decorations I like for my house. I found 11 things that make my living room look amazing, but it was a struggle just to know I had to decorate. But thanks to T. J Maxx and their homegoods, I now have a living room that looks festive. My kids love the decorations and so do I!
My Turn
Isn’t she cute? 🙂 So, her post is fairly accurate. Halloween isn’t my favorite and I struggle to put up Halloween decor instead of just “harvest” things, which is way more my speed. Last year we moved into a house with built-in bookshelves that were crying to be filled with stuff. It’s been fun changing out decor for the seasons and holidays. This is the first year we’ve been in this house for Halloween, so when I got our decorations out I realized a couple of things. First, there weren’t enough and second, they were kind of lame. Even my kids were less than impressed with what we had. Maybe they always have been and they were just too nice to say it…
I knew something had to be done, so I gave myself a budget and ran to my go-to store- TJ Maxx. It literally took me 20 minutes and I was on my way home with four bags of Halloween fun. Honestly, I don’t mind buying the stuff- it’s the putting it up that I hate. I’m not a designer. I’m never certain that anything looks good once I put it up! But, in the last couple years I’ve decided that it doesn’t matter. If I’m happy with it and my kids love it, then who cares what anyone else thinks? So, we threw everything up on the shelves and called it good.
Check it Out!
If you love TJ Maxx for home decor as much as I do, you really should check out their website- they have some super cute holiday things right now. And there’s no crowd and no crazy line to wait in at checkout! But, if you’re in the market for some Halloween fun at a discounted price, head to one of their stores the day after the holiday. I got these awesome ceramic pumpkins last year for half price- I’m in love with them on my front porch this year! It was worth moving them from one garage to another and storing them for months. 🙂
