I’ve listened to this song since I was really little and it reminds me of one of my favorite holiday traditions. Every year my family goes for a drive up into the mountains to pick out and cut down our own Christmas tree.

• Why do we go? It is tradition and it’s fun to get outside.
• Is it cold? Why yes!
• Do we find the perfect tree? Never, but they smell so good and we like unique!
• Why bother? Of all of the things we do at Christmas, this tradition is picked first by the kids every year.
• Aren’t real trees messy? Yes, but worth getting because of the memories.
• Do the trees seem to grow upon arriving home? Yes! Apparently the sky is slightly higher than our ceiling.

 Why I Love Cutting Our Own Tree

I love getting outside for just about anything so going to cut down our own tree gets me out and breathing. Being out and hiking around the mountains gives me time to talk with my kids and spend real quality time together. Enjoying nature and surrounding myself with gorgeous views makes me happy and feel close to heaven. I guess it simply puts me in the Christmas spirit.
