I've procured a Paint Sprayer from Homeright. What sort of damage can I do with it? simplyseekingjoy.com

I’m coming upon a new and uncomfortable adventure. And it is one that is very uncharacteristic for me.  I want to tell you the unlikely story that ends with me procuring a paint sprayer that I never would have purchased for myself. And now I have ideas of using it. Unheard of, I know! I can’t possibly think that DIY is my new thing, can I?!  Stranger things have happened.

Several weeks ago I went to SNAP, a blogging conference in Salt Lake City. It is the first conference I’ve ever attended and let me tell you, I was a fish out of water! My brain felt on overload as I sat through the classes and listened to the experienced bloggers around me. Overwhelmed is an understatement. Aside from the classes, there was a whole room dedicated to sponsors and companies who work with bloggers. They had booths set up with displays of products, opportunities to try things out, as well as giveaways and drawings you could enter. I threw my business card in plenty of drawings, but I’m not lucky and don’t ever win anything. I did not suppose this would be any different.

The last day of the conference arrived and while sitting in a class that was well over my head, I took to my phone. I had an email from Homeright,  a DIY company who managed one of the booths at the conference.  Apparently, I had won a nightstand that I  had remembered seeing, but had no idea was a part of any drawing! So, I left the class and went to go claim my prize, glad that I drove to the conference and could get it home.

Not so fast. Things are never that simple, are they?

The room was a mess of people packing up when I got there. No one was at the Homeright booth when I walked up, so I went in search of someone who could help me. In the time it took me to make a large circle around the conference, the girls at the booth were back and the nightstand was gone. I had not come to claim my prize quickly enough and they gave the nightstand to someone else.

Sad, right?

They felt bad, of course. And they apologized profusely. But it was too late to change it. So I whined about it to my friends for a few minutes and then put it aside as a lost cause. I didn’t really need another nightstand in my house anyway, right?

A few days after I got home I received another email from sweet Laura at Homeright. It was an apology for how things had gone down with the nightstand and a request to send product instead. Would I “be interested in receiving a sprayer and spray shelter?” Sure, why not? Did I know what to do with it? Probably not!

It arrived at my house less than a week later. And then sat in the boxes in my garage for over a month. I can play it off as being too busy. It has been a hectic spring. Believe it or not, I have thought of some projects that are perfect for trying out this sprayer. But the reality is that I’m a little intimidated. I’m not a DIY queen. I’m probably capable, but haven’t really exposed myself to much of it. So a sprayer, a shelter and ideas floating around in my head is a very scary thing.

Be prepared, everyone. Because I’m going to document this crazy idea of using a paint sprayer. I may regret it. Or maybe I’ll become the next Martha Stewart. HA!! Wish me luck. 🙂

P.S. Any words of advice from experienced users? I could use them!!
